Senior Business Analyst

We are currently looking for a Senior Business Analyst to be based in London on a full-time basis, reporting into the Head of Section - Applications Readiness & Business Analysts.

As a Senior IT Business Analyst, you will be accountable for identifying, documenting, and managing explicit and implicit stakeholder requirements for complex initiatives, as well as handling change requests and contributing to solution component descriptions. You will select the most effective methods for representing business requirements and define expected functional test outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Application Target State Determination & Roadmapping: Determine whether to Retain, Replace, or Retire applications in collaboration with Enterprise Architecture, and translate these decisions into actionable roadmaps and project plans.
  • Change Management & Transition Planning: Develop and implement change management strategies and detailed transition plans to ensure smooth adoption of new processes, tools, and technologies with minimal operational disruption. Coordinate communication, stakeholder readiness, and cutover activities as part of overall project delivery.
  • Stakeholder Engagement, Governance & Cross Functional Collaboration: Actively engage with stakeholders across the organization to elicit, prioritize, and validate requirements, and foster collaboration between IT and other departments. Establish regular governance routines (e.g. steering meetings, status reviews) to ensure alignment with business goals and transparent decision making.
  • IT Risk Management, Security & Issue Resolution: Coordinate IT risk management activities and collaborate on vulnerability and penetration testing remediation plans to safeguard the organization’s security posture. Proactively identify, log, track, and manage project/workstream risks, issues, and dependencies, and drive timely mitigation and resolution.
  • Application Documentation & Compliance Evaluation: Assess current application documentation to identify gaps and areas for improvement, ensuring compliance with regulatory, architectural, and organizational standards.
  • Process Improvement & Solution Design Support: Identify opportunities for enhancing IT and business operations, recommending and helping design solutions that improve efficiency, effectiveness, and customer outcomes. Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives as structured workstreams or projects.

Knowledge and Skills

  • 10+ years of experience in delivering IT and/or digital projects, preferably in Financial Services or another regulated industry, covering the full project lifecycle (initiation to handover to operations).
  • Proven track record in coordinating and delivering complex project and program deliverables, based on a strong understanding of customer and business needs.
  • Solid experience in business analysis (requirements engineering, process modelling, documentation) combined with hands-on project / workstream leadership in hybrid or agile environments.
  • Demonstrated personal organizational skills and the ability to coordinate and motivate cross-functional teams, including negotiating deadlines, managing dependencies, and securing commitments from stakeholders and vendors.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a global environment across businesses, time zones, and international cultures to deliver results and drive alignment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical and architectural topics into clear business language and prepare concise decision and status materials.
  • Clear focus on internal customer satisfaction, with a continuous improvement mindset and the ability to identify and implement efficiency and quality enhancements in both IT and business processes.
  • High degree of drive and curiosity to stay informed and current on industry trends in Insurance, IT, and relevant regulations (e.g. security, data protection, conduct standards).
  • Recognized as proactive, hands-on, and solution-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address issues, risks, and dependencies in complex environments.
