Business Analyst - Payments Transformation
Initial 3-month contract | £500 per day | Outside IR35
Central London - 1-2 days per week onsite
We are supporting a major transformation programme within the payments industry, working with a large global organisation to review and redesign a significant area of its business end-to-end.
The programme spans seven interconnected transformation workstreams, looking at every element of the customer and operational lifecycle; from acquisition and onboarding through to servicing, operations, product processes and the capabilities that support them.
We are looking for an exceptionally detail-oriented Business Analyst to work across the programme, helping the team understand, map and document the depth of change taking place across each workstream.
This is not a role for someone who operates purely at a high level. We need somebody who genuinely enjoys getting into the detail, an excellent listener who asks the right questions, picks up on what others might miss and takes real ownership for the accuracy, completeness and quality of their work.
The Role
Working closely with programme leadership, SMEs and individual workstream leads, you will help build a detailed picture of the existing business and what needs to change.
You will:
- Work across a complex transformation programme consisting of seven interconnected workstreams
- Capture and map current-state processes, capabilities, dependencies and requirements
- Support the definition and documentation of future-state processes
- Work closely with SMEs to understand how processes operate at a granular level
- Listen, challenge and ask the right questions to uncover detail that may not initially be obvious
- Translate workshops and stakeholder conversations into clear, structured and accurate documentation
- Identify gaps, dependencies, inconsistencies and areas requiring further investigation
- Connect information across workstreams to ensure the end-to-end impact of change is understood
- Maintain an exceptionally high standard of programme documentation
- Follow actions and questions through to resolution rather than allowing detail to get lost between workstreams

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
