Senior Business Analyst
Remote with occasional travel to Cardiff
Up to £80,000 per annum
CPS Group are looking for an experienced Senior Business Analyst to join a high-performing digital transformation environment delivering impactful change across large-scale public sector and technology programmes.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical background who thrives in collaborative, fast-paced delivery environments and enjoys shaping digital solutions that improve services, processes, and user experiences.
Working within multidisciplinary delivery teams, you will play a key role in understanding business needs, defining requirements, and supporting the successful delivery of user-centred digital and technology solutions.
You will collaborate closely with stakeholders, technical teams, product leads, designers, and delivery teams to translate complex business challenges into clear, actionable outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with senior stakeholders and business users to gather, analyse, and document business requirements
- Translate business needs into clear functional and technical specifications
- Facilitate workshops, stakeholder interviews, and discovery sessions to identify priorities and opportunities
- Collaborate with developers, architects, designers, and testers to shape solution design and delivery approaches
- Support digital transformation and business change initiatives across complex programmes
- Create and maintain high-quality artefacts including user stories, process maps, business cases, workflows, and acceptance criteria
- Ensure requirements traceability and alignment with organisational objectives
- Support testing activities including UAT coordination, validation, and defect resolution
- Analyse systems, processes, and data flows to identify improvements and optimisation opportunities
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and share best practice across the wider business analysis community
- Mentor and support junior Business Analysts where appropriate

Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst or Senior Business Analyst, ideally within public sector or large enterprise environments
- Strong technical understanding, including experience working alongside development and architecture teams
- Experience delivering digital and IT solutions across varied technologies and platforms
- Strong knowledge of Agile, iterative, and/or Waterfall delivery methodologies
- Experience creating backlogs, user stories, customer journeys, and acceptance criteria
- Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation, and communication skills
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business language
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement capabilities
- Experience working within multidisciplinary delivery teams

Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting digital transformation or large-scale IT change programmes
- Knowledge of systems integration, APIs, data analysis, or data modelling
- Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, or similar collaboration platforms
- Understanding of government or public sector frameworks and standards
- Experience mentoring junior team members or contributing to BA best practice communities
