Job Description

Are you an experienced Senior Business Controller with a good foundation in accounting? We’re looking for a passionate individual to help us harness the power of the wind to change the world for the better. Join us to find your element working for fossil freedom. As a Senior Business Controller for our Business Area (BA) Wind team, you will play a pivotal role in driving financial performance and strategic decision-making by translating finance into business strategy.

You won’t only be involved in developing projects but pioneering cutting-edge innovation, new business models, and ways of working with communities and the environment. Overall purpose of the role

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytically strong professional to join our organisation within Business Area Wind. In this position, you will strengthen and further develop the reporting and planning process in BA Wind. The role combines structured financial expertise with a hands-on approach to deliver high-quality financial data and insights that support decision-making. Close collaboration with the business and Vattenfall Group functions is essential, as well as actively contributing to improvements across controlling, processes, and systems.

The Senior Business Controller is responsible for the following main tasks:

  • Ensuring that a sound planning & control system is in place within BA Wind. Key activities will relate to defining and further developing the planning & reporting processes in Wind
  • Coordinating and executing BA Wind’s Performance Management process including business planning in BA Wind and subsequent preparation of Group material
  • Coordinating and running the BA Wind monthly reporting and forecasting process including:
    • Ensuring adherence to basic accounting guidelines
    • Ensuring integrity and reconciliation of all financial data and systems with reporting (PowerBI, Cognos Controller) and forecasting (IBM TM1)
    • Coordinating and preparing BA Wind follow-up reports & Business Performance Meeting material
    • Defining reporting templates and timelines within BA Wind
    • Defining and developing controlling-specific requirements made on IT systems (PowerBI, IBM TM1 system, Cognos Controller)
    • Maintaining target and KPI system and scorecards for BA Wind

Qualifications

Your profile / who are you?

Our ideal candidate is positioned at an advanced stage of their professional finance career, demonstrating stakeholder management and the ability to communicate financial topics in an approachable way, while remaining eager to learn and excel within an international setting.

As our Senior Business Controller, you will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in controlling, economics, accounting, or finance
  • 8+ years in finance, leading planning/control cycles and performance management for business segments
  • Experience working across complex financial systems and data sources, with the ability to translate data into clear insights
  • Strong skills in IBM TM1, Cognos Controller, Power BI, and Office 365
  • Professional finance qualification such as CIMA/CGMA, ACA, ACCA, RA, RC, or an equivalent certification is considered an advantage. Additional qualifications in project management, change management, business transformation, or data analytics are also welcomed
  • Wind/energy sector experience is an advantage
