We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Business Data Analyst to join our Group Data and AI Office (GDAIO) Team at Royal London. This Senior Business Data Analyst position is aimed at candidates who bring significant experience from financial services or similarly complex regulated environments, and who can combine strong data analysis capability with confident stakeholder engagement, delivery focus, and commercial judgement.
The Senior Business Data Analyst will play a key role in shaping high-quality analysis across complex data landscapes. You will support value-chain mapping of data, interpret system performance metrics, agile team performance data and financial data, and help provide check and challenge on GDAIO involvement in key initiatives based on business value and return on investment. The role is particularly suited to someone who understands the realities of delivering data change in a financial services setting, including regulatory expectations, legacy platforms, operational risk, and the need for clear, evidence-based recommendations.
Working closely with Data Engineering teams, Business SMEs, Business Sponsors, and Senior Leadership, the Senior Business Data Analyst will analyse complex data ecosystems, translate findings into practical recommendations with senior data leaders, and support project teams to align delivery with organisational objectives. This role combines hands-on analysis with collaborative leadership, particularly during complex discovery, impact assessment, migration, data sourcing, or project definition phases.
About the role:
- Lead and shape complex data analysis across financial services change initiatives, developing clear analytical approaches that support business, customer, and regulatory outcomes
- Support the optimisation and phasing of data sourcing to the Enterprise Data Model
- Evaluate important business processes and identify data-driven improvement opportunities
- Develop thoughtful analytical solutions to help address complex business challenges
- Provide clear insights to cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders based on advanced data analysis
- Help ensure analytical outputs align with business strategies and regulatory requirements
- Support data quality assessments, impact assessments, migrations, and improvement initiatives, helping teams understand source-to-target data impacts, risks, and dependencies
- Coordinate the delivery of high-impact analytical projects, helping ensure timely completion and effective use of resources
- Role model Royal London values across the GDAIO and broader organisation
- Support, coach, and provide technical guidance to Business Data Analysts, helping raise standards of analysis, documentation, and delivery across the team
- Encourage the use of data-driven decision-making practices across the organisation
- Contribute to initiatives that improve data literacy and analytical capability across business areas

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
