Wilsons Auctions is seeking an ambitious and commercially focused Senior Business Development & Account Manager to support the continued growth of our Plant & Machinery Division across Scotland, England and Wales.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the largest independently owned auction company in the UK and Ireland, working with a broad range of clients including plant hire companies, machinery dealers, contractors, agricultural businesses, finance providers, insolvency practitioners, corporate organisations and public sector bodies.
We are looking for a professional business developer who can identify opportunities, nurture long-term client relationships and position Wilsons Auctions as the preferred asset management, valuation and disposal partner within the plant and machinery sector.

The Opportunity
This is a strategic, customer-facing role with significant autonomy and scope for growth.
You will be responsible for developing new business opportunities while managing and expanding key accounts across Scotland, England and Wales. Working closely with clients and colleagues, you will identify asset disposal opportunities, provide expert guidance on auction solutions and help drive the continued success of our Plant & Machinery Division.
You will represent Wilsons Auctions in the marketplace, building relationships with both existing and prospective clients, ensuring exceptional service and maximising commercial opportunities at every stage.
What You'll Be Doing
- Develop and implement business development plans to grow market share across Scotland, England and Wales.
- Identify, target and secure new vendors, key accounts and strategic partnerships.
- Manage and develop relationships with existing customers to increase repeat business and long-term revenue opportunities.
- Procure plant, machinery, agricultural equipment, construction equipment and commercial assets for auction.
- Work with leasing companies, finance providers, insolvency practitioners, administrators, receivers and corporate clients to deliver asset disposal solutions.
- Develop opportunities for recurring contracts and national account agreements.
- Conduct site visits to inspect assets, assess opportunities and support asset appraisals.
- Negotiate vendor agreements and commercial terms.
- Work closely with internal valuation, operations, auction and marketing teams to ensure excellent customer delivery.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity and asset values to identify new opportunities.
- Represent Wilsons Auctions at trade exhibitions, industry events, agricultural shows and networking functions.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, sales reporting and pipeline management.
- Contribute directly to the growth and development of the Plant & Machinery Department.

What Success Looks Like
In this role, you will:
- Secure new business opportunities and high-value consignments.
- Develop long-term relationships with key industry stakeholders.
- Increase auction entries and departmental revenue.
- Grow recurring revenue streams through strategic account management.
- Expand Wilsons Auctions' presence within the plant, construction and agricultural sectors.
- Enhance our reputation as a trusted asset management and disposal partner across the UK.
What You'll Bring
We are looking for a commercially minded professional with a proven ability to win business, build relationships and deliver results.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Proven track record in business development, account management, asset sales or a related commercial role.
- Strong knowledge of the plant, machinery, agricultural, construction or asset disposal sectors.
- Experience developing and managing customer relationships at all levels.
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
- A strong commercial mindset with the ability to identify and convert opportunities.
- Ability to manage a sales pipeline and work independently across a large geographical territory.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Competent use of Microsoft Office and CRM systems.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively throughout Scotland, England and Wales, including occasional overnight stays.

Desirable Experience
- Previous auction, valuation, asset recovery or asset disposal experience.
- Existing network of contacts within the plant, machinery, agricultural, construction, finance or insolvency sectors.
- Experience working with corporate, finance, leasing or public sector clients.
- Understanding of machinery valuations and residual asset values.
