Senior Business Development Advisor

Here at Mills & Reeve, we are hiring a Senior Business Development Advisor to join our national Marketing team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role will be based in our Leeds office.

The Role

Join Mills & Reeve as a Senior Business Development Advisor on a 12-month fixed-term contract (FTC) and play a key role in driving the growth of our Leeds office and Energy sector practice. Working closely with partners, lawyers, and business leaders, you'll provide strategic business development support, identify new opportunities, strengthen client relationships, and help deliver sustainable revenue growth.

This is a highly visible role where you'll influence decision-making, lead key initiatives, and support the continued success of one of the firm's priority sector markets.

The Person

You'll be an experienced business development professional with strong commercial awareness, excellent communication skills, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders. You'll thrive in a fast-paced environment, balancing multiple priorities while delivering high-quality outcomes. Relationship-focused, proactive, and strategic in your thinking, you'll enjoy turning opportunities into results and helping others succeed.

Experience of using AI and modern marketing tools to drive innovation and effectiveness will be highly valued.

The Activities

  • Develop and deliver business development plans that support the growth of the Leeds office and Energy sector.
  • Drive strategic client development, cross-selling, and relationship-building initiatives.
  • Lead and support bids, pitches, and tender opportunities.
  • Manage pipelines, identify market opportunities, and provide commercial insight to key stakeholders.
  • Deliver thought leadership campaigns, profile-raising activities, and networking opportunities.
  • Monitor performance, budgets, and ROI while ensuring progress against agreed objectives.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to partners and lawyers, coaching and guiding them on effective BD activity.
  • Champion innovation, collaboration, and the use of AI to enhance business development performance.
