We are committed to early adoption of new technologies, progressive working practices and supporting everyone to be accountable to deliver their best quality work. You can find out more on our website.

Job purpose

As Senior Business Development Manager you will be building strategic relationships with prospective clients and partners, understand their ambitions and challenges, and position solutions that The Idol can provide to meet their needs.

The role will be responsible for creating and executing a new business growth strategy, establishing a strong market presence for The Idol, developing new channels and partnerships, and delivering sustainable new business revenue growth through the acquisition of new clients and opportunities. The role will work closely with colleagues across our business to shape compelling propositions and bring new opportunities to market.

  • Lead the identification, assessment and pursuit of new business opportunities across The Idol's insurance, annuities and technology services offerings.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with prospective clients, partners and key stakeholders, developing a deep consultative understanding of their strategic objectives and challenges.
  • Ensure every opportunity is taken to communicate The Idol's expertise, innovation and value proposition to prospective clients and partners.
  • Identify and secure new commercial agreements and contracts which support The Idol's growth strategy, working with our Contracts Manager to negotiate these.
  • Develop opportunities within the wider Legal & General Group by building relationships and identifying new business, partnership and proposition opportunities.
  • Champion The Idol's technology capabilities in the market, raising awareness of our services and generating demand through networking, relationship building and industry engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with product, technology and commercial colleagues to help shape new solutions and propositions that meet market needs.
  • Engage the appropriate technical experts and business stakeholders in sales conversations to develop credible, tailored solutions for prospective clients and partners.
  • Build, maintain and manage a healthy and forecastable sales pipeline, providing regular reporting on opportunities, conversion rates and projected revenues.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity and customer insight, ensuring opportunities and risks are identified and acted upon.
  • Work closely with marketing colleagues to support demand generation activities and the development of targeted campaigns in new and existing sectors.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Tech Partnerships to ensure a smooth transition of newly acquired strategic relationships into ongoing delivery and account management arrangements.
  • Consider, relevant to the role, the needs and objectives of all our customers, including vulnerable customers, to ensure that they receive good outcomes.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
