Senior Business Development Manager

London (hybrid) | Full-time | Reporting to the Founders

About TechGenetix

TechGenetix is a London-based, end-to-end AI and data consultancy. We work with organisations at every stage of the AI journey, from defining strategy through to fixing stalled programmes and taking pilots into production. We are not here to produce reports; we are here to help our clients transform, using AI in a way that delivers real, lasting business value, with outcomes delivered every 90 days.

Behind our client-facing team sits a 100+ strong offshore engineering capability with an impeccable record of delivering complex AI programmes on time and within budget. This gives TechGenetix the rare combination of a lean, senior UK presence backed by serious delivery firepower, and it is what allows us to compete credibly for enterprise-scale AI and data transformation work.

This is a genuine ground-floor opportunity. You will be the third hire in the business, joining the Founders directly. What you build here, you build largely from scratch.

The Role

We are looking for a Senior Business Development Manager to build and own a new business desk from the ground up. This is a cold-desk, hunter role: you will be creating pipeline, not managing inherited accounts.

You will sell into C-suite and senior decision-makers (CIO, CTO, COO, CDO, Chief Data Officer) at mid-market and enterprise organisations who are grappling with how to move from AI ambition to AI operating reality.

You will have real autonomy over how you build the desk: your target sectors, your outreach approach, and the events and networks you invest in. In return, we expect a track record of doing exactly this before, in a consultancy, technology services, or professional services environment.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Building a cold desk from scratch: prospecting, outreach, and pipeline generation into net-new logos, with no inherited book of business.
  • Selling into C-suite and senior stakeholders, positioning TechGenetix's AI strategy, data foundations, cloud and platform, and software engineering capability.
  • Attending industry events, conferences, and networking forums to build TechGenetix's profile and generate a consistent flow of new relationships.
  • Building and nurturing a network of relationships across target sectors, converting warm relationships into qualified opportunities.
  • Owning the full sales cycle: prospecting, first meeting, scoping conversations, proposal, and close, working closely with the Founders on larger or more complex deals.
  • Working closely with delivery leadership to ensure what is sold reflects what our offshore engineering capability can realistically deliver, on time and within budget.
  • Feeding market intelligence back into the business: what clients are asking for, where the competition is winning or losing, and where TechGenetix should focus next.
  • Helping shape early commercial processes (CRM, pipeline reporting, proposal templates) given the stage the business is at.

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven experience building a cold desk from scratch and generating new business, ideally within AI, data, technology consulting, or professional services.
  • A demonstrable track record of selling into C-suite and senior buyers, comfortable running conversations with CIOs, CTOs, and other senior decision-makers.
  • Genuine enjoyment of, and comfort with, cold outreach, prospecting, and the graft of early pipeline generation, not just relationship management.
  • Confidence attending and working industry events to build relationships and generate leads.
  • A strong commercial instinct: able to identify real client problems and shape them into scoped, sellable engagements.
  • Comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy in a small, founder-led business, and motivated by the opportunity to build something rather than run a playbook handed to you.
  • Genuine interest in AI and data, and the ability to speak credibly about how AI transformation programmes succeed or fail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and the polish to represent TechGenetix at C-suite level from day one.
