Senior Business Development Manager
Location
UK-based, hybrid/remote with travel
Role overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Development Manager to drive new business growth for our energy consultancy client. The role will focus on winning and developing commercial energy procurement, renewable energy, and sustainability-led opportunities across corporate, and multi-site clients.
Key responsibilities
- Generate and convert new business opportunities through direct prospecting, referrals, networking, and partner channels.
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of commercial energy opportunities across gas, power, utilities, renewables, and sustainability services.
- Lead discovery meetings, site visits, presentations, and solution-led sales conversations with decision-makers.
- Develop tailored proposals and commercial models to support energy procurement, cost reduction, and decarbonisation strategies.
- Negotiate contracts, pricing, and commercial terms to secure profitable business.
- Work closely with internal operations, analytics, procurement, and customer delivery teams to ensure smooth onboarding and delivery.
- Maintain accurate CRM records, sales forecasts, and pipeline reporting.
- Represent the business at events, exhibitions, and industry meetings.
- Support account growth by identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities within existing clients.
- Stay up to date with market trends, energy legislation, and supplier pricing movements.

Skills and experience
- Proven experience in BDM, sales, or account development within the energy consultancy, utilities, brokerage, or wider B2B energy sector.
- Strong hunter mentality with a track record of winning new business.
- Experience selling energy procurement, renewable solutions, or sustainability services.
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Confident communicator with the ability to present credibly to senior stakeholders.
- Comfortable working autonomously and managing a full sales cycle.
- Strong CRM and pipeline management skills.
- Experience working with energy suppliers, brokers, or third-party intermediaries is desirable.
- Understanding of commercial energy markets, contract structures, and supplier relationships.
