Senior Business Development Manager – New Business (IoT Connectivity)
Location: Hybrid
The Role
This is a pure new-business "hunter" role. You'll be responsible for identifying, targeting and winning new logos within the UK IoT market (with scope to expand further afield as you and the territory grow). You'll work closely with a vertical focus but will always be encouraged to chase strong opportunities wherever you find them, with an emphasis on larger enterprise-level deals.
You'll report directly into the Head of New Business Sales, joining a wider sales organisation of around 30 people spanning Account Management, SDRs and New Business - with a clear path for continued growth as your success builds.
What You'll Be Doing
- Proactively identifying and targeting new prospects within your focus market, understanding their requirements and how we can add value
- Building a multi-touch new business strategy to generate and progress your own pipeline of appointments
- Running consultative sales conversations with prospective customers, understanding their challenges and presenting compelling, well-structured proposals
- Building and managing a high-performing, blended sales pipeline against clear quarterly targets
- Negotiating and closing new enterprise-level business, with deal cycles ranging from a few months to 12+ months depending on complexity
- Collaborating with Marketing on events, webinars and creative campaigns to generate new opportunities
- Handing over won business cleanly to the Account Development team, setting new clients up for long-term success

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
