Referment
Referment is working with a smart-building technology company whose connected water-management platform helps organisations detect leaks, reduce waste and manage risk across property portfolios. Its buyers include asset managers, developers, building-services specialists, contractors, facilities providers, distributors and insurers in the UK and international markets.
This is an end-to-end commercial role for someone who can turn qualified interest into complex B2B revenue. You will run discovery, demonstrations, negotiation and contracting, while developing relationships with the people who specify and procure technology for buildings. You will work closely with senior leadership on go-to-market priorities and carry an individual revenue target.
The Role
- Own the sales process from qualification and discovery through demonstrations, commercial negotiation, contracting and close.
- Build durable relationships with asset managers, M&E consultants, contractors and developers, and help execute a specifier-led market strategy.
- Navigate large, multi-stakeholder accounts with longer procurement cycles and clear commercial governance.
- Convert enquiries from prospective customers, distributors, resellers and insurers into qualified pipeline across the UK and overseas.
- Maintain disciplined CRM data, pipeline notes and forecasting, using HubSpot and modern prospecting tools.
- Use AI for account research, meeting preparation, outreach, call summaries and proposals, and feed sales insight back into pipeline-generation activity.
- Use marketing and content support commercially and help assess opportunities in additional property and infrastructure sectors.
- Support cross-border opportunities and travel regularly for customer meetings and sites.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience selling smart-building, water, energy or sustainability technology, or selling into purpose-built student accommodation and build-to-rent customers, would be valuable. International sales exposure is also useful.
This could suit a senior business development manager or enterprise account executive who enjoys owning complex sales from first conversation through close and understands how technology is bought within the built environment.
