About Company

My client is a growing multi-utility, civil engineering and infrastructure contractor, delivering telecoms, power, EV infrastructure and grid connection projects across the UK and Ireland. As part of their continued expansion, we are building out our grid connections capability and are looking for a Business Development Manager to help drive that growth.

The Role

MY client delivers end to end grid connection solutions for renewable energy developers, from feasibility study and design through to procurement, construction, commissioning and handover to the DNO or IDNO. This covers cable routes from point of connection, new substation builds, and schemes at 33kV, 66kV and 132kV.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

They are looking for someone who can open doors, hold their own in a technical conversation about grid connections, and convert early stage engagement into long term client relationships. You will be building a pipeline of ICP work, primarily within battery storage and solar, with wind farms and further battery storage opportunities to follow as we grow into those sectors.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Identifying and prospecting new clients within the renewable energy sector, targeting solar, battery storage and (in time) wind developers
  • Building relationships with pre-construction managers, procurement teams and technical decision makers, often starting the conversation cold
  • Presenting companies capability across feasibility studies, design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover for grid connection schemes
  • Winning smaller scope work such as feasibility studies, and using that foothold to upsell into full grid connection packages
  • Representing team at industry trade shows and events (roughly quarterly)
  • Working closely with the pre-construction and delivery teams to ensure what is sold reflects what can realistically be delivered

What We're Looking For

  • Experience within an ICP (Independent Connection Provider) background, ideally with exposure to 33kV and above schemes (33, 66 or 132kV)
  • A track record in business development, sales or client facing project leadership within utilities, power, civils or a related infrastructure sector
  • Comfortable initiating contact and holding a technical conversation, rather than relying on volume outreach alone
  • Confident picking up the phone, approaching procurement teams cold, and pushing through to a first meeting
  • Credible in front of clients: someone who can back up what the company can deliver without overselling
  • Open to regular travel and occasional overnight stays as part of a structured working pattern

What We Offer

  • Salary up to £80,000, depending on experience
  • Company bonus scheme
  • Tesla Model 3 (Long Range), or car allowance
  • All travel and stayover expenses covered
  • A flexible working pattern once a structured office rhythm is established
  • The opportunity to help shape and grow a new area of the business, with a strong pipeline already in place
