Description
Job Title: Senior Business Development Manager – Land Air Joint & Space
Contract Type: Permanent
This role requires Developed Vetting (DV) Security Clearance. To be eligible, candidates must be willing and able to undergo the DV clearance process and meet the UK Government's security clearance criteria. Due to the nature of the work, this will typically include a substantial period of UK residency and the ability to provide detailed background information for vetting purposes.
Please note that appointment to this role is conditional upon successfully obtaining and maintaining DV clearance.

Location: Flexible, with routine travel to BMT offices expected. Local, regional and international travel as required.

About The Role
As a Senior Business Development Manager – Land Air Joint & Space, you will play a pivotal role in driving sustainable, profitable growth across the Land, Air, Joint and Space markets. Working within our Future Business team, you will identify, shape and secure strategic opportunities with defence organisations, government agencies, industry partners and other key stakeholders operating across integrated and multi-domain environments.
You will be responsible for developing and maintaining a strong pipeline of opportunities, building trusted customer relationships, and creating growth strategies that align with BMT's regional business objectives. By combining market insight, customer understanding and commercial awareness, you will identify emerging opportunities, influence customer thinking, and position BMT for long-term success.
A key part of the role involves leading capture activities for high-value pursuits, bringing together colleagues from across Future Business, Programmes, Capability, Commercial and Finance to develop compelling, differentiated and deliverable solutions. You will provide strategic guidance on opportunity qualification, market positioning and investment priorities while ensuring opportunities are commercially robust and aligned to BMT's goals.
This is a highly autonomous and influential role suited to an experienced business development professional who thrives on building relationships, shaping future opportunities and delivering growth within complex defence, security and space environments. Success requires strong commercial judgement, strategic thinking, collaboration and a passion for helping customers solve their most challenging problems.
About You
You are an accomplished business development professional with a proven track record of delivering growth through strategic market development, customer engagement and successful opportunity capture. You bring extensive experience developing high-quality pipelines, securing new business, and converting market, customer and competitor insight into actionable growth plans that deliver measurable results.

You excel at building and maintaining trusted relationships with senior customers, partners and stakeholders, using your market knowledge and commercial acumen to identify, shape and influence opportunities from an early stage. Comfortable operating in complex and competitive environments, you have experience leading capture activities, developing win strategies, creating compelling propositions and guiding opportunities through structured qualification and review processes.
You combine strong commercial judgement with strategic thinking, enabling you to assess opportunity viability, strategic fit, risk, pricing considerations and long-term value. You are confident working across matrix organisations, bringing together colleagues from commercial, finance, programmes and capability teams to create aligned, customer-focused solutions.
An excellent communicator and influencer, you can engage credibly with both internal and external stakeholders, presenting complex ideas clearly and confidently. You thrive in a growth-focused environment, demonstrating resilience, accountability and sound decision-making while supporting and coaching others to develop strong business development practices.
Experience within defence, government, consulting or adjacent markets, alongside knowledge of capture methodologies such as Shipley, would be advantageous.
