Senior Business Development Manager
Sustainability, Energy & Decarbonisation Solutions
Location: Flexible UK (Hybrid with customer travel)
Help shape the future of sustainable industry.
This is not another sales role.
You’ll be joining a market-leading organisation helping some of the UK’s largest and most recognisable organisations reduce energy costs, achieve ambitious carbon reduction targets and deliver major infrastructure projects that genuinely change how businesses operate.
Working across sectors including manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, automotive, higher education and defence, you’ll engage C-suite executives, estates leaders, operations teams and finance stakeholders to develop multi-million-pound sustainability programmes that deliver measurable commercial and environmental impact.
If you enjoy solving complex business challenges, influencing senior stakeholders and winning strategic, long-cycle opportunities, this could be the role you’ve been looking for.
The Opportunity
You’ll own and develop strategic customer relationships from initial engagement through to contract signature, selling complex consultancy and engineering solutions that often develop into significant capital projects.
Rather than selling a product, you’ll work with customers to understand their commercial objectives, identify opportunities to reduce operational costs and carbon emissions, and build compelling business cases that secure investment.
Sales cycles typically range between 9-12 months, requiring strong planning, stakeholder management and commercial resilience.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
