Senior Business Intelligence Developer

Hybrid - West Midlands (3 days per week)
£50,000 - £70,000

The Company

They are a growing, consumer-focused organisation investing significantly in their data and technology capabilities. Data is increasingly central to how they understand commercial performance, customers and operational effectiveness. You will join an environment undergoing continued transformation, with the opportunity to improve how BI is developed, governed and adopted across the organisation.

The Role

As a Senior BI Developer / Senior Data Analyst, you will own key elements of the end-to-end BI lifecycle. You will:

  • Design and maintain scalable Power BI dashboards, semantic models and datasets.
  • Build and optimise SQL data models supporting analytics, reporting and forecasting.
  • Develop solutions within Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse, Warehouse and data pipeline capabilities.
  • Design and maintain ETL and ELT pipelines using Fabric Data Factory, Power Automate or comparable technologies.
  • Establish reusable BI datasets supporting multiple reporting requirements.
  • Partner with finance, marketing, product and operational stakeholders to analyse revenue, pricing, customer behaviour and wider commercial performance.
  • Define and standardise KPIs across key business areas.
  • Automate manual reporting and improve self-service analytics through Power BI and the wider Microsoft ecosystem.
  • Maintain strong standards around data quality, lineage, governance, documentation and performance.
  • Translate complex analysis into clear commercial insights for senior stakeholders.
  • Support developing BI and analytics professionals while helping establish technical best practice.

Your Skills & Experience

You will bring:

  • Strong commercial experience across business intelligence, analytics or BI development.
  • Advanced SQL skills covering complex transformations, dimensional modelling and performance optimisation.
  • Deep hands-on Power BI expertise, including DAX, data modelling, deployment pipelines and optimisation.
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric or a comparable modern cloud data platform.
  • Strong knowledge of data warehouses, Lakehouse architectures and ETL or ELT processes.
  • Experience creating scalable and reusable datasets for reporting and analytics.
  • Understanding of commercial and financial measures such as revenue, margin, ROI and P&L.
  • Confidence partnering with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A strong approach to data accuracy, governance and lineage.

Experience within retail, e-commerce or another consumer-focused environment would be beneficial, particularly involving pricing, promotions, inventory or multi-site data. Exposure to Power Apps, experimentation or A/B testing would also be advantageous.
