Business Operations Officer
The Church of England Pensions Board Housing Department provides retirement housing and related services for those who have served the Church. We are committed to delivering professional, efficient and customer-focused services that support residents, colleagues and stakeholders.
As a Business Operations Officer, you will help ensure that the department's systems, data and business processes run effectively. Working closely with colleagues across Housing, Finance, Technology and external partners, you will maintain high-quality data, produce reports, support business improvement initiatives and provide expert administrative and systems support. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with data, improving processes and helping teams work more efficiently.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Business Operations Officer plays an important role in ensuring the effective management of operational data, reporting and business systems across the Housing Department. You will work with a variety of stakeholders to maintain accurate information, support decision-making and contribute to continuous service improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining and monitoring data across business systems (QL, SAP, Dynamics etc) to ensure information is accurate, reliable and up to date.
- Producing reports, analysis and management information to support operational and strategic decision-making (predominately using Excel and Power BI).
- Managing the administration and monitoring of contractual, financial, loan and stakeholder reporting in line with legal requirements.
- Identifying data quality issues and working with colleagues to improve processes and resolve discrepancies.
- Providing support and guidance to colleagues on the effective use of the housing management system (QL), including SAP/Dynamics and other NCI systems.
- Assisting with user acceptance testing (UAT), system enhancements and continuous improvement projects.
- Supporting payment processing, reconciliations and other operational administrative activities.
- Developing and promoting consistent approaches to data management and system usage across the department.
- Provide a range of cross-departmental support functions that assist departmental efficiency and aid relationships with other sections of the department

You will also contribute to wider team objectives, provide cover for colleagues when required and work collaboratively to improve services and customer outcomes.
QUALIFICATIONS
A motivated and detail-oriented professional with experience supporting business operations, data management and reporting activities. Confident working with data, maintaining accurate records and assisting with business systems to support effective decision-making. A proactive team player who enjoys solving problems, building positive working relationships and contributing to continuous improvements.
To be successful in this role, you will be able to demonstrate:
- Experience working with business systems and databases, including extracting, analysing and presenting data.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, investigate issues and maintain high levels of accuracy.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel at intermediate or advance level and other Microsoft Office applications to manage and report information.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work methodically.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain information clearly to a range of audiences.
- Experience building positive working relationships with colleagues, partners and stakeholders.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality work with strong attention to detail.
It would be advantageous if you also have:
- Experience working within a housing, property, customer service or charitable organisation.
- Experience supporting financial reporting, reconciliations or contract management activities.
- Knowledge of SAP or other enterprise business systems.
- Working knowledge of Power BI and an interest in developing skills in Power BI.
