Role Purpose

We have two vacancies available for a Senior Business Support Assistant role at Somerset Council, where you will be providing a high-quality, reliable administrative and operational support service to colleagues throughout our Adults services. You will be supporting practitioners, managers, and senior officers, based in our Adults Operations but working with individuals across a range of services. You will do this through the coordination of a range of important activities, including organising and minuting meetings, supporting casework processes, and maintaining accurate records that may contribute to key decision-making.

  • Act as the first point of contact and use experience, knowledge, and discretion to respond to queries, which may be sensitive or complex.
  • Provide direct support to senior officers, managers, and operational staff during the working day by arranging and prioritising operational activities.
  • Use reporting to provide senior managers with management information.
  • Where required, take responsibility for selected financial activities, e.g., budget forecasting, providing financial administration.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
