About the Company

We are seeking a proactive and commercially minded Buyer to join our Procurement team. This position plays a critical role in supporting manufacturing operations through effective procurement, supplier management, inventory optimisation, and supply chain performance.

About the Role

Working closely with Senior Buyers, Production, Engineering, Planning, and Warehouse teams, you will be responsible for ensuring the timely procurement of materials, components, and services while driving cost savings, mitigating supply chain risks, and maintaining high service levels. This is an excellent opportunity for a procurement professional looking to develop their career within a fast-paced manufacturing environment while contributing to business growth and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

Procurement & Purchasing

  • Raise and manage purchase orders using ERP/MRP systems.
  • Ensure supplier order acknowledgements are received, reviewed, and aligned with business delivery requirements.
  • Manage purchasing activities for direct and indirect materials.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) activities through effective sourcing and supplier engagement.
  • Maintain procurement master data including lead times, MOQ/MPQ settings, reorder points, and supplier information.

Supplier & Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
  • Conduct supplier performance reviews and support supplier development initiatives.
  • Manage supplier risk and implement mitigation strategies to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, contracts, and service agreements.
  • Drive continuous cost reduction and annual savings initiatives.

Inventory & Supply Chain Management

  • Optimise inventory levels to balance availability with working capital objectives.
  • Conduct inventory profiling reviews and monitor stock holding performance.
  • Analyse shortages, excess stock, obsolete inventory, and demand fluctuations.
  • Support material planning and supply chain continuity activities.
  • Collaborate across functions to improve purchasing and inventory performance.

Operational Excellence

  • Contribute to SQDIP (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, Productivity) activities.
  • Support procurement KPI development and reporting.
  • Maintain accurate procurement and supplier data for informed business decision-making.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across procurement and supply chain processes.
  • Ensure compliance with company purchasing policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Experienced within Procurement, Purchasing, or Supply Chain.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, engineering, industrial, or production environment.
  • Proven ability to achieve operational and commercial objectives.
  • Experience using ERP/MRP systems to support procurement and inventory management.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Experience developing productive relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
