Senior Buyer (24-Month FTC) - Castleford - £40,000 - £50,000 + Car Allowance + Bonuses
Elevation Recruitment Group are proud to be supporting a leading utilities business in Castleford that is looking to recruit a Senior Buyer to join their growing Commercial team on a 24-month fixed-term contract, with a strong chance of the role becoming permanent.
This is a chance to lead high-value tenders for a business delivering critical infrastructure across the North of England. You'll take ownership of the full sourcing process, from market engagement through to contract award, while helping to develop the next generation of buyers in the team.
Working Hours / Benefits
- Up to 10% annual performance bonus
- £4,000 retention bonus on completion of the contract

The Role
- Developing sourcing strategies for each tender to deliver value, competition and alignment with business objectives
- Leading pre-market engagement to strengthen competition and outcomes
- Managing supplier pre-qualification and building a high-quality, compliant supplier pool
- Producing ITT documentation with internal stakeholders, including scopes, specifications, contract terms and award criteria
- Evaluating supplier submissions and running clarification activity, including Q&A and supplier meetings
- Analysing value, affordability and commercial viability of bids
- Preparing award proposals and leading the process through to contract execution and mobilisation
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the procurement team
The Person
- Proven experience managing large multi-million-pound contracts
- Strong negotiation skills and sound commercial judgement
- Good working knowledge of contract terms, conditions and the basics of contract law
- Confident with data, able to turn analysis into clear recommendations
- Excellent stakeholder management, comfortable engaging at all levels
- Experience procuring operational, engineering or maintenance services would be beneficial
