THE ROLE

We are recruiting for a Senior Buyer to join our team. This role will look after Menswear shifts, shorts and trousers.

The Senior Buyer is responsible for leading the buying function for assigned product categories, driving strategy, and delivering optimal delivery schedules, purchase order management, and strong sell-through performance.

This role manages the buying process from concept to exit, ensuring profitability and alignment with business objectives, as well as margin optimisation and cost negotiations. Previous experience working with menswear is preferable for this role. In addition to experience in managing and developing a team.

ABOUT THE TEAM

Based at our Shoreditch office, this role will report to one of our Buying Managers.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (KEY RESPONSIBILITIES)

  • Assist the Buying Manager with all tasks, including overall team management
  • Ensure the team are on track with the critical path and that key deadlines are met
  • Support the team in achieving their weekly priorities
  • Lead the management of individual product categories across the complete product lifecycle, from concept to exit strategy.
  • Develop and implement seasonal range plans by conducting thorough trend analysis, comparative shopping, pricing analysis, and leveraging historical sales data. Present these plans effectively to senior management and key stakeholder departments.
  • Oversee the editing of collections to the option plan and meticulously review product price architecture.
  • Pro-actively lead the review and negotiation of product costs to optimize profitability and maintain competitive pricing.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with vendors to ensure timely deliveries, quality control, and effective problem resolution.
  • Oversee daily communication with suppliers to track delivery schedules, monitor production progress, and ensure the accuracy of all data entry related to purchase orders.
  • Prepare and analyze weekly and seasonal sales reports using advanced Excel functionalities, including pivot tables, to identify trends, opportunities, and risks. Present these insights in weekly and seasonal buying meetings.
  • Maintain a high level of communication with cross-functional teams within the organization (e.g., Design, Merchandising, Marketing, Operations, Retail) to ensure seamless execution and alignment.
  • Manage product data entry in assortment plans with high accuracy, including costs, retail prices, and purchase order details.
  • Manage internal systems with a high degree of accuracy and efficiency to ensure data integrity and smooth operational flow.
  • Coordinate market preparation and key documents, such as line sheets, order forms, and vendor agreements.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop junior buyers and assistant buyers.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and ethical sourcing practices.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR (SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS)

  • Proven experience as a Buyer, with a strong understanding of the buying cycle and a track record of exceeding targets.
  • A team player! Someone who is happy to pitch in with ad hoc tasks if the wider team requires support
  • Extensive analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data, identify trends, and make strategic commercial decisions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Google Sheets and excel, including the ability to create and manipulate pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and other advanced functions for reporting and analysis.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills with a proven track record of securing favorable terms with suppliers.
  • Strong commercial awareness and a keen eye for product, market trends, and consumer behavior.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, for effective interaction with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and critical paths simultaneously.
  • Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to overcoming challenges.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic retail environment.
  • Strong presentation skills with the ability to articulate strategies and insights clearly and persuasively.
  • Proficiency in relevant buying and inventory management systems
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and developing a team.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and dynamic AllSaints environment.

ABOUT THE LOCATION

Based in our East London Studios in vibrant Shoreditch with perks and benefits offered from local businesses including discounts on food, shopping and health & beauty. Studio Location. Approximately a 10 minute walk from Liverpool Street Station and a 5 minute walk from Shoreditch High Street.
