Senior Buyer

Salary: Competitive and dependent on skills, experience, and qualifications

Location: Prestwick, Ayrshire

Hours: 37 hours per week (half-day Friday)

Type: 1 Permanent Full-Time Position and 2 Fixed-Term Positions Available

Travel Required: Occasional

Work Location: Primarily site-based

Security Checks: BPSS, Disclosure Scotland, pre-employment medical (including drug and alcohol testing)

Prestwick Aerosystems is proud to continue Ayrshire's long-standing aircraft manufacturing heritage. From our Prestwick site, we manufacture major aircraft wing structures used on Airbus commercial aircraft worldwide. As part of the Airbus family, we play a key role in delivering safe, reliable, and high-quality aerospace products.

We currently have one permanent full-time Senior Buyer role and two fixed-term Senior Buyer opportunities available within our Commercial team.

As a Senior Buyer, you will play an important role in ensuring materials, services, and supplier partnerships support the delivery of world-class aerospace products. Working across an international supply chain, you will help drive commercial performance, support operational requirements, and contribute to the continued success of our manufacturing operations.

How you will contribute to the team

You will:

  • Manage strategic suppliers, monitor supplier performance, and support commercial reviews across the supply base.
  • Lead supplier negotiations to secure value, manage commercial risk, and support business objectives.
  • Conduct supplier selection and sourcing activities in line with operational and strategic requirements.
  • Support supplier development, performance improvement, and procurement initiatives across multiple functions.

Requirements for the role

You will have:

  • Experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management within a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial environment.
  • An understanding of supplier management, sourcing activities, and commercial negotiations.
  • Knowledge of contract management and commercial processes.
  • Experience managing supplier relationships and supporting cost, quality, and performance improvement activities.
