Job Description

Eaton MSD Cheltenham are looking for a Senior Buyer. The Senior Buyer will be responsible for the tactical activities and improvement of the OTIF delivery surrounding the purchasing function on business systems for all suppliers within their value stream. They will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and relationship management of all value stream parts including cost reduction activities, improvements in quality and delivery and supplier management and development.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive for improvement for deliveries for your value stream by managing KPIs within your value stream that contribute into the OTiF
  • Responsible for monitoring and reporting on the shortages within their specified value stream and liaising with planning
  • Review and approve the contract reviews for all new orders within your respective value stream
  • Attend and be accountable for Tier 2 production meetings within your relevant value stream
  • Ensure all purchasing requisitions messages are actioned on the system on time, and where requisitions are raised in arrears challenge and resolve appropriately for their value stream
  • Work closely with planning to ensure that products coming in for the value stream meets the production plan and that we are not bringing excess stock
  • Manage and drive for zero arrears within their specific value stream
  • Facilitating the quarantine list for their specific value stream
  • Be first line of escalation for any late orders that may impact the production plan
  • Work with CM to rationalize and reduce as many approved suppliers as possible (targets given per team)
  • Ensure all supplier returns are actioned within 72 hours of being put in the returns cage and target supplier return date within a 14 day period
  • Provide any additional training required for any team member within your value stream
  • Manage the turnaround of supplier returns within your value stream
  • Identify and manage Risks to the Supply Chain via Risk Register and mitigating actions

Required skills & experience:

  • Natural leadership and training skills
  • Operational purchasing experience and demonstrated achievements
  • Excellent administrative, organisational and communication skills
  • Technical understanding of drawings and specification
  • Negotiation skills and experience
  • Aerospace experience (preferable)
  • Intermediate Excel skills (preferable)
