Description
At Pets at Home, we’re on an ambitious journey to become the best pet care business in the world. To achieve that, we rely on our greatest strength: our people and our culture. Our values and behaviours are the foundation of everything we do, guiding us as we create a better world for pets and the people who love them.
We are now looking for an experienced Senior Buyer to join our dynamic Accessories & Small Animals Trading team — a key commercial role with real scope to influence product ranges, profitability and customer experience across one of our most exciting categories.
About The Role
As a Senior Buyer, you will have full responsibility for delivering the sales and margin targets for your category, as set out in the Business Plan. You’ll negotiate and agree annual supplier trading terms and build a customer‑focused range strategy that is both shaped by market trends and differentiated from the competition.
This is a fast‑paced and varied role where you’ll balance stakeholder needs, supplier priorities and customer expectations — all while working within a supportive team that values collaboration, shared expertise and continuous improvement.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
