Senior Buyer – Chilled Food

A leading UK multi‑channel FMCG wholesale and retail group is looking to appoint a Senior Buyer to lead the trading and category strategy for one of its key Chilled Food areas. This award‑winning business is a major force across retail and foodservice, and this role represents a pivotal hire within a high‑profile, fast‑moving commercial team.

The Role

Reporting into the Head of Buying, you’ll take full ownership of the commercial agenda across your chilled category. You’ll manage and develop supplier relationships, negotiate robust trading terms, and drive income, cost efficiency and margin performance. A significant part of the role will involve NPD and range development, working closely with cross‑functional teams to bring new chilled products to market. You’ll lead promotional planning, oversee advertising agreements and overriders, and ensure the category remains competitive and commercially sharp.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
