About the team
Our Argos Commercial & Digital team shapes the products, ranges and experiences that help customers find what they need for their homes. Within Home, Utilities and Bathroom is our biggest category, bringing together everyday essentials, recognisable market-leading brands and a fast-moving promotional agenda. It is a visible part of the business where strong commercial judgement, customer insight and supplier partnerships can make a meaningful difference to growth.
More about the role
As Senior Buyer, you will lead the Utilities and Bathroom category, with responsibility for key areas including laundry and airers and partnerships with brands such as Minky and Brabantia. You will shape the category and range strategy, translating customer, market and commercial insight into plans that deliver profitable sales, margin and market share growth across our digital and store channels.
This is a high-profile, promotionally driven role. You will oversee range architecture, product selection, pricing and launch planning; lead strategic supplier relationships and commercial negotiations; and work closely with Merchandising, Digital, Marketing, Finance, Product Development, Technical and Global Sourcing. You will use trading performance, customer trends and competitor activity to adjust plans at pace, while coaching and developing Buyers and Assistant Buyers to deliver against clear commercial objectives.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
