This role can be based at either our Burton upon Trent or Littlehampton site.
Salary: £40,000 - £48,000

About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Senior Buyer to join our Purchasing team and play a key role in developing our global supply chain, driving supplier performance and delivering cost-effective sourcing solutions.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Buyer or Technical Buyer with a manufacturing or engineering background who enjoys building supplier relationships, negotiating commercial contracts and supporting technical procurement activities.

What You'll Be Doing
As Senior Buyer, you will:
- Manage RFQs and sourcing activities for materials, components and services.
- Negotiate pricing, terms and lead times to achieve best value for the business.
- Identify, assess and onboard new suppliers.
- Conduct supplier audits and performance reviews.
- Build strong supplier relationships and monitor supplier KPIs.
- Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Planning and Production teams.
- Interpret technical drawings, specifications and material requirements.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) projects through procurement of prototype materials and tooling.
- Drive cost reduction, value engineering and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assess supplier technical capability and manufacturing processes.
- Support compliance with quality, environmental and health & safety standards.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Experience in a purchasing role within manufacturing or engineering.
- Strong supplier management and negotiation skills.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications.
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.

Desirable
- CIPS qualified or studying towards CIPS.
- Experience within Automotive, Rail, Aerospace or engineered manufacturing sectors.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as moulding, machining, bonding or rubber compounding.
- Experience supporting NPI projects.
- Familiarity with PPAP, FAIR and quality documentation requirements.
