Senior Buyer

Muc-Off was founded in 1994 and we are now the leading supplier of specialist cycling cleaning and maintenance products in the UK. The company is continuing to expand into the European, Asian and North American markets focusing on its core categories of cycling, motorcycle and Athlete performance products.

About the role

Reporting to the Purchasing Director, this role is responsible for carrying out a broad range of purchasing and supplier base related activities within the Muc-Off business.

Key responsibilities:

Team Management:

  • Manage and contribute to a high-performing team of procurement planners in ensuring optimal stock availability in line with forecast and demand
  • Promote a positive working culture and environment
  • Drive performance excellence through continuous improvement practices
  • Introduce KPI measures that track procurement performance within the team

Supplier Relationship Management:

  • General management of current supplier base including periodic reviews with the aim of negotiating improved prices and favourable terms (Supplier Agreements)
  • Enhance supplier relationships and improve collaboration via QBRs and/or weekly/monthly meetings where appropriate
  • Drive cost savings through the end-to-end supply chain process including freight, duty and handling charges
  • Support a global sourcing strategy aligned with the business’ growth plans, focused on cost effectiveness and supply chain efficiency
  • Support a procurement strategy that mitigates the risk of single-source supply, and which includes developing local manufacturing and contract packing operations

Procurement / Supply Chain:

  • Monitor inventory levels versus latest forecast and demand/sales trends and take actions with the procurement planners to meet stock availability targets whilst also improving logistics and supply chain efficiencies
  • Work closely with the Demand Planner to fine-tune forecasts based on latest stock consumption patterns
  • Support purchasing team in the ordering process (forecast analysis > order suggestion > PO sign-off meeting > placing orders and pending order book management)
  • Lead or contribute to Supplier Consolidation / Dual Supply specific projects as required

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work cross-functionally to provide procurement support to meet the business needs in areas such as technical compliance, artworks, product costing and physical distribution

Must-haves:

  • Experience in procurement and supplier management
  • An individual who is adaptable and flexible to support a varied range of direct and indirect procurement activities
  • An energetic communicator who can engage and inspire internal and external stakeholders
  • A proactive problem-solver who thrives on continuous improvement and innovation
  • Experience with SAP (or other MRP systems) and all Microsoft Office applications
