Senior C++ Engineer (Desktop Applications) – Healthcare
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior C++ Engineer (Desktop Applications) – Healthcare based in United Kingdom.
Join a high-impact engineering project focused on improving the security, stability, and performance of critical healthcare desktop software. In this senior role, you’ll work hands-on with modern C++ and complex multithreaded applications where reliability and safety are essential. You’ll analyse existing architectures, identify and resolve security vulnerabilities, and optimise demanding desktop systems. You’ll collaborate with software architects, QA specialists, and product teams to deliver robust, production-ready solutions. AI coding agents will also be used to accelerate code analysis, debugging, and engineering workflows.
Accountabilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance modern C++ components for high-performance desktop applications, with a strong focus on system stability, reliability, and security.
- Analyse existing software architectures against established security requirements and specifications to identify, remediate, and prevent vulnerabilities.
- Conduct advanced multithreading analysis and debugging to identify performance bottlenecks, concurrency issues, and system inefficiencies.
- Apply advanced debugging and diagnostic techniques to improve application performance, stability, and maintainability.
- Collaborate closely with software architects, quality assurance teams, and product managers to ensure robust and high-quality software delivery.
- Contribute to code analysis, vulnerability remediation, and continuous improvement of existing desktop applications.
- Use AI coding agents and automated engineering tools to accelerate code reviews, analysis, debugging, and bug resolution while maintaining high engineering standards.
- Apply structured problem-solving approaches to complex technical challenges in a security-sensitive and regulated environment.
- Help ensure software meets demanding performance, safety, quality, and IT security expectations.

Requirements
- Extensive professional experience as a Senior C++ Engineer working on high-performance, multithreaded desktop applications.
- Strong proficiency in modern C++ development and contemporary C++ standards and practices.
- Deep expertise in system security, multithreading, concurrency, and advanced debugging techniques.
- Strong practical experience with build systems and development toolchains such as CMake, Conan, and MSVC.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse complex software systems and solve challenging technical problems in a structured and analytical manner.
- High standards for code quality, reliability, maintainability, and engineering discipline.
- Eligibility to work as a contractor while residing in the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland.
- Fluent English, both written and spoken.
- Familiarity with AI coding agents such as Claude Code or comparable automated engineering tools is preferred.
- Exposure to formal IT security standards, security specifications, or regulatory compliance frameworks is advantageous.
- Previous experience developing software for regulated industries or the healthcare sector is a strong plus.
- A university degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
- German language skills are considered an additional advantage.
- Willingness to attend occasional onsite meetings in Central or Northern Germany.
