This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior C++ Engineer based in the United Kingdom.

This is an opportunity to contribute to the enhancement and security of critical desktop software used within the healthcare sector.

You will work on modern C++ components for high-performance applications where stability, efficiency, and security are essential.

The role combines deep software engineering with code analysis, vulnerability remediation, and advanced multithreading diagnostics.

You will collaborate with architecture, quality assurance, and product teams to deliver robust and dependable software.

AI-assisted coding tools will be used to accelerate analysis, troubleshooting, and development workflows.

This contract role is suited to a highly experienced engineer who enjoys complex technical challenges and takes ownership of engineering quality.

The position is remote within Europe, with occasional onsite collaboration in Central or Northern Germany.

Accountabilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance modern C++ components for high-performance desktop applications, with a strong focus on stability, reliability, and IT security.
  • Analyze existing software architecture against security specifications to identify, remediate, and prevent vulnerabilities.
  • Investigate complex technical issues and perform advanced multithreading analysis and debugging to optimize system efficiency and application performance.
  • Collaborate with software architects, quality assurance specialists, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure robust software delivery.
  • Apply structured debugging and code-analysis techniques to identify root causes and implement durable solutions.
  • Leverage AI coding agents and automated engineering tools to accelerate code analysis, bug resolution, and development workflows.
  • Contribute to continuous improvements in engineering practices, software quality, security, and development efficiency.

Requirements

  • Extensive professional experience as a Senior C++ Engineer working with high-performance, multithreaded desktop applications.
  • Strong proficiency in modern C++ development practices and advanced software engineering principles.
  • In-depth expertise in system security, multithreading, concurrency, and advanced debugging techniques.
  • Practical experience with build systems and development toolchains including CMake, Conan, and MSVC.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a structured approach and high standards for software quality.
  • Fluent English communication skills; German language skills are considered an advantage.
  • Eligibility to work from within the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland.
  • Familiarity with AI coding agents such as Claude Code or comparable automated engineering tools is preferred.
  • Experience with formal IT security standards, regulatory compliance, or software development in regulated environments is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in healthcare or other highly regulated industries is beneficial.
  • A university degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
