Amey are a leading provider of full life-cycle engineering, operations and decarbonisation solutions, for transport infrastructure and complex facilities. Working for us, you’ll be delivering sustainable infrastructure solutions that enhance life and protect our shared future. Our people are driven by a set of strong values, based on safety, insight and collaboration.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Document Controller/Archivist/Information Officer to join our team in Scotland. You will play a key role in preserving, structuring, and digitising technical records and historical data to support both operational delivery and strategic planning.

This role is critical to supporting requirements across both Network Bridges and Major Bridge Structures. You will play a key role in locating existing records, preserving, structuring, and digitising technical records and historical data to support both operational delivery and strategic planning.

Amey manages both the Southwest and Northeast Trunk Road Network Management contracts, with the Southwest being awarded in 2020 and the Northeast in 2022. These are 8-year contracts, extendable up to 12 years. In addition to these long-term contracts, we also have a diverse portfolio of major roads, bridges and transportation and civil design projects with Transport Scotland, Local Authorities, and established contractors across the country.

These long-term contracts provide excellent opportunities for technical, engineering, and professional design staff at all stages of their careers to be involved in some of the most exciting and challenging engineering projects associated with Scotland’s arterial road network.

The role

  • To establish a structured, standardised, and accessible archive of bridge-related asset records for both Network Bridge Structures and Major Bridge Structures, supporting Transport Scotland’s operational and strategic needs.
  • Develop and maintain structured archives for infrastructure projects, including drawings, reports, assessments, and correspondence.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external data governance and archiving standards.
  • Locate, retrieve and organise historical records and data to support ongoing and future works.
  • Collaborate with digital transformation teams to migrate legacy records into modern platforms.
  • Provide training and guidance to project teams on document handling and archiving protocols.
  • Contribute to community benefit reporting and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Assess and digitise records from various sources, including hard drives, CDs, DVDs, paper files, and external archives (e.g. Mitchell Library).
  • Establish a standardised format for asset records compatible with the Structures Management System and standalone databases and agree with client.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
