The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Senior CAD/BIM Lead – Civil 3D SME to provide technical leadership, hands-on support, and specialist expertise across our CAD/BIM function.

As a Civil 3D subject matter expert, you’ll be a trusted point of contact for project teams, helping to solve technical challenges, develop standards and workflows, improve digital delivery, and build capability across the wider team.

You’ll work across major water, wastewater, and environmental projects, collaborating with CAD/BIM teams, designers, project managers, BIM specialists, and clients. The role combines technical delivery, innovation, mentoring, and continuous improvement, giving you the opportunity to influence how Civil 3D and digital engineering are used across Binnies.

What you’ll be doing

  • Act as the senior technical point of contact and SME for Autodesk Civil 3D and associated workflows.
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance and support across major projects, frameworks, and programmes.
  • Develop and improve Civil 3D standards, templates, styles, workflows, and best practice.
  • Support multidisciplinary model coordination, BIM delivery, and information management.
  • Provide expertise across Civil 3D surfaces, alignments, profiles, corridors, pipe networks, and data management.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, innovation, and improved digital workflows.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical challenges and bring the right people together to develop practical solutions.
  • Coach and mentor CAD/BIM Leads, technicians, and developing technical specialists.
  • Support technical assurance, governance, resource planning, and capability development.
  • Work closely with the Head of CAD/BIM to shape the future direction of the function.
  • Engage with clients, contractors, consultants, software vendors, and industry networks where appropriate.

About You

You’ll have significant experience delivering CAD/BIM services on multidisciplinary projects, with strong practical expertise in Autodesk Civil 3D.

We’re looking for someone who can combine technical expertise with an approachable and collaborative leadership style. You’ll be comfortable influencing standards, solving problems, sharing knowledge, and helping others develop their skills.

Essential:

  • Strong practical Civil 3D experience and understanding of model-based digital delivery.
  • Experience with Civil 3D standards, templates, styles, and workflows.
  • Strong understanding of surfaces, alignments, profiles, corridors, and pipe networks.
  • Experience providing technical leadership, guidance, or mentoring.
  • Experience working across multidisciplinary projects.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Relevant technical qualification such as HNC/HND or equivalent experience.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
