Senior CAD/CAM Design Engineer

£37,000–£45,000 (depending on experience)

Are you an experienced CAD/CAM Engineer with a background in sheet metal? This opportunity offers varied projects, involvement from design through to manufacture, and the option to work your hours over 4 days.

About the company

Aspion Search is recruiting for a well established manufacturer producing precision components and assemblies for a variety of sectors. Combining experienced engineering teams with modern manufacturing equipment, the business offers extensive inhouse capabilities across fabrication, machining and assembly. This gives the Senior CAD/CAM Engineer the opportunity to work closely with production colleagues and see your designs become finished products. The Senior CAD / CAM Design Engineer will join a business where practical engineering knowledge, attention to detail and pride in workmanship is valued.

Responsibilities of the Senior CAD/CAM Design Engineer

  • Produce accurate manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks for sheet metal projects across the retail and lighting sectors.
  • Liaise with customers and colleagues to understand specifications and develop practical manufacturing solutions.
  • Plan parts and assemblies, creating bills of materials and preparing quotations using an ERP system.
  • Create parts for CAM and support their progression into manufacture.
  • Work closely with production teams to resolve queries and ensure drawings meet manufacturing requirements.
  • Manage varied projects while maintaining accuracy, quality and agreed deadlines.

Requirements of the Senior CAD/CAM Design Engineer

  • Engineering qualifications
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience working with sheet metal
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks
  • CAM software experience, ideally using Radan or Amada
  • A practical understanding of sheet metal manufacturing processes
  • 5 year’s experience with lighting products (desired)
  • 5 year’s experience in retail fabrication (desired)
  • Experience using ERP systems for BOMs and quotations (desired)
