The post-holder will be required to work autonomously (or will be trained, dependent on background experience) across the services:
- Cardiopulmonary exercise testing - supporting unexplained breathlessness service.
- Non-invasive cardiology - Ambulatory Monitors and electrocardiography.
- Lung function testing – Spirometry, reversibility, gas transfer, FeNO testing.
This is also an opportunity to participate in a Quality Assurance Programme for Diagnostics.
We have a supportive environment for training and development, which can include attendance at National Conferences. You will be expected to demonstrate experience consistent with this grade to support the current service and to contribute fully to the improvement and advancement of the service.
Applications from candidates who have a BSc Clinical Physiology (or equivalent) with a cardiology or respiratory specialism, or those with a relevant Exercise Science background will be considered. We welcome applications from Cardiac or Respiratory physiology; training will be offered to develop skills across the breadth of cardiorespiratory specialisms.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
