An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Care and Housing Support Officer to join our friendly and supportive team at Willow Gardens Extra Care Services. Willow Gardens provides high-quality care and housing support to older people living independently in their own homes within an Extra Care setting. We are committed to promoting independence, choice, dignity and wellbeing for the people who use our services.
About The Role
As a Senior Care and Housing Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day delivery of a high-quality care and housing support service. You will provide practical guidance and on-the-job observational supervision to frontline care staff, ensuring services are delivered in line with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards and Sandwell Council values.
You will support individuals to maximise their independence, contribute to the development and review of person-centred care and support plans, and assist with housing-related support that enables tenants to maintain successful tenancies.
The role will also involve providing management cover in the absence of the Extra Care Manager, Assistant Manager or Support Team Manager, undertaking duty management responsibilities, responding to emergencies and working collaboratively with health professionals, housing services and partner agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support, guidance and observational supervision to frontline care staff.
- Support the completion and review of person-centred care and support plans.
- Assist with medication management, including ordering, checking and administration where appropriate.
- Support the delivery of housing management and tenancy support functions.
- Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and independence for people who use our services.
- Coordinate activities and opportunities that enhance community involvement and social engagement.
- Provide management cover and undertake duty management responsibilities as required.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to continuous service improvement.

What We're Looking For
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who has:
- NVQ Level 2 in Care (or equivalent).
- Level 2 Literacy qualification (or equivalent).
- A minimum of two years' experience supporting vulnerable adults, older people, people with disabilities or people living with dementia.
- Knowledge of Care Quality Commission standards and the inspection framework.
- An understanding of Extra Care services, including both care and housing support elements.
- Good communication, organisational and record-keeping skills.
- A commitment to person-centred care, dignity, equality and inclusion.
Working Pattern
This post is for 30 hours per week and includes a requirement to work weekends, Bank Holidays and occasional night shifts in line with service needs. Flexibility to work across Extra Care services may also be required.
