Shifts: 12.25 hour night shifts with weekend availability

About The Role
We are seeking a compassionate Senior Care Assistant to support the nursing and care team in delivering high-quality, person-centred care. The role involves meeting residents’ individual needs with dignity and respect, promoting independence, and acting as a role model by supervising and supporting the development of junior team members.
What You'll Do
- Participate in and ensure the delivery and maintenance of a high standard of Personal Care to Residents, by ensuring that all team members contribute to the efficient delivery of service.
- Carry out clinical procedures as instructed by the Head of Department or Registered Nurse within your scope of competence.
- Ensure you and the team are familiar with and contribute to social and health care plans and ensure that care is given and documented in accordance with procedures.
- Take appropriate action and report to the Head of Department or Registered Nurse any changes in Residents condition or other circumstances, which could impact on resident care.
- Help and ensure the promotion of mental and physical activity of residents through talking to them, taking them out, engaging with them in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies and recreations.
- Ensure that all resident areas are hygienic, safe and comfortable at all times.
- Ensure that equipment and stocks are efficiently and safely stored and economically used and that adequate provision is maintained.
- Welcome and assist residents and visitors referring them to the Head of Department or Registered Nurse where necessary.
- Report to the Head of Department or Registered Nurse, any complaints, incidents or accidents immediately.
- Be accountable for the quality of the work of the team during the shift and take responsibility for maintaining and improving knowledge and skills. Attending training and receiving and delivering Supervision as required.
- Inform the Manager or other senior member of the organisation where the practice of colleagues may be unsafe or adversely affecting standards of care.
- Ensure the security of all residents and the premises through the observance of security procedures and the challenging of any strangers in the Home.
- Contribute to the record keeping and reporting requirements of the Home, such as Accident and Incident Reporting and other statutory documentation.

Qualifications & Skills
- Secondary school education with good numeracy and literacy.
- Ability to communicate clearly in English.
- Level 2 and 3 in Care.
- Minimum 3 years experience caring for older people.
- Understanding of professional Codes of Practice in social care
- Basic computer literacy for record-keeping and communication
