About Marina Lodge
Marina Lodge is an 11-bed care home specialising in mental health, providing person-centred support to residents with a range of individual needs. We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Team Leader to join our team and provide strong day-to-day leadership, support staff development, and help maintain consistently high standards of care.
This is a hands-on leadership role, combining staff leadership, resident support, quality assurance, and operational oversight. You will work closely with the Registered Manager, Deputy Manager, and Team Leaders to ensure our residents receive safe, respectful, and person-centred support and care.
The Role
As Senior Team Leader, you will act as a senior point of contact for staff and support Team Leaders to effectively lead their shifts. You will be expected to lead by example, observe staff practice, provide constructive feedback, and identify areas for development.
You will also retain your own Key Worker responsibilities and remain actively involved in supporting residents.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Providing visible and positive leadership across the service.
- Supporting Team Leaders with delegation, communication, handovers, and staff accountability.
- Observing Team Leaders and providing guidance, feedback, and development support.
- Supporting staff wellbeing and maintaining positive working relationships.
- Promoting high standards of person-centred care and challenging poor practice appropriately.
- Maintaining an understanding of residents' care plans, risk assessments, and individual needs.
- Supporting residents with meaningful activities, community access, and achieving personal goals.
- Responding appropriately to safeguarding concerns and significant incidents in line with CQC Standards.
- Supporting effective incident management, documentation, and handovers.
- Completing allocated audits and supporting quality assurance activity.
- Monitoring care documentation and identifying areas requiring improvement.
- Supporting staff training, induction, mentoring, and reflective practice.
- Working alongside management to support continuous improvement and inspection readiness.
- Maintaining accurate digital records and supporting the effective use of care management systems.
- Working collaboratively with families, Social Workers, and other professionals where appropriate.
- Providing senior leadership during evenings and weekends as part of the contracted hours.
- Protected time will be incorporated into the rota for leadership, staff development, audits, care planning, training, and administrative responsibilities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
