Senior Carer – Are you a carer looking for a new challenge, look no further!
Reports To – Lead Supervisor
Job Purpose
To provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to customers, ensuring their dignity, independence, and wellbeing. As a Senior Carer you will lead by example, support our care team, complete care documentation, and participate in the on-call rota to ensure continuity of care and operational support outside normal office hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, compassionate, and person-centred care in accordance with individual care plans.
- Support customers with personal care, medication, nutrition, hydration, mobility, and daily living activities as required.
- Promote independence, choice, dignity, and respect.
- Monitor and report any changes in customers' physical, emotional, or mental wellbeing.
- Act as a role model for Care team members.
- Provide guidance and support to new and existing team members.
- Assist with support checks.
- Report incidents, accidents, safeguarding concerns, and complaints promptly.
- Participate in our out-of-hours on-call rota as required.
- Respond professionally to emergency and urgent calls from customers, team members, healthcare professionals, and family members.
- Provide guidance and support to care team members working outside normal office hours.
- Arrange emergency cover for care calls where required.
- Escalate safeguarding concerns, incidents, accidents, or service issues appropriately.
- Maintain accurate records of all on-call communications and actions taken.
- Ensure continuity of care and service delivery during evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and overnight periods when on call.
- Report hazards, incidents, and risks promptly.
- Use equipment safely and in accordance with training.
- Support infection prevention and control measures.

Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Previous experience in a care role.
- Good understanding of person-centred care.
- Knowledge of safeguarding adults and children.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Competent in maintaining accurate records.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Willingness to participate in the on-call rota. Full training and ongoing support will be provided.

Desirable Criteria
- Experience within domiciliary, complex care, or live-in care services.
Working Hours
Flexible working hours including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required. To be discussed. Participation in the out-of-hours on-call rota. Overtime may be required to meet service needs.
