Wetherby Home Care works closely with clients, families, and healthcare professionals to tailor care plans to individual needs and preferences.
Role Description
The Senior Carer role is a full-time position based in York, supporting clients in their homes and within the local community. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Providing personal care
- Assisting with mobility
- Supporting medication routines
- Helping with daily living activities such as meal preparation and light household tasks

The Senior Carer will oversee care plans, monitor client wellbeing, and report any changes or concerns to care managers or healthcare professionals. The role also involves:

- Mentoring and supporting care staff
- Ensuring high standards of care
- Maintaining accurate documentation
- Fostering positive relationships with clients and their families
The Senior Carer is expected to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, to meet client needs.
Qualifications
- Strong practical caregiving skills, including personal care, mobility support, and assistance with daily living activities.
- Ability to manage and review care plans, keep accurate records, and follow safeguarding and health and safety procedures.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate, patient, and respectful approach to clients and colleagues.
- Experience guiding or mentoring other care staff, with good teamwork and problem-solving abilities.
- Relevant care qualification (e.g., NVQ/QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care) or equivalent experience; willingness to undertake further training.
- Basic IT skills for electronic care records and scheduling systems, and the ability to follow written policies and procedures.
- Ability to travel locally in York to visit clients; a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required.
