Bereavement Team Member
The Bereavement Team supports customers, families, solicitors, and personal representatives following the death of a mortgage customer. Our role is to provide compassionate, practical support during what is often a very difficult and emotional time, while ensuring accounts are managed correctly and in line with legal and regulatory requirements.
Our work involves managing a wide variety of case types throughout the customer journey. This includes processing deceased notifications, carrying out follow-up activity and case reviews, and managing post-concession reviews where temporary arrangements are in place.
The team also handles Powers of Attorney, account updates, and ongoing case management to ensure customer records remain accurate and up to date. In addition, we support redemption and property sale enquiries and maintain regular contact with customers, personal representatives, and solicitors, providing guidance and updates throughout the lifecycle of each case.
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon or Bournemouth office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
