We're looking for a Senior Category Buyer to join our Group Indirects Facilities Management Category team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead complex procurement activities, influence key business decisions, and deliver real value across a diverse portfolio that supports some of National Grid's most important programmes and projects.
The role is hybrid with our base office in Warwick, we'd expect to see you in the office twice a week and the rest from home.
What You'll Do
Working closely with the Category Manager, you'll help deliver category strategies while leading end-to-end sourcing activities across Facilities Management and related service areas. You'll build strong relationships with stakeholders, understand business requirements, and identify innovative procurement solutions that maximize value, manage risk, and support National Grid's strategic objectives.
You'll be responsible for:
- Leading strategic sourcing events from market engagement through to contract award
- Supporting the development and execution of category strategies
- Partnering with stakeholders to challenge demand, shape requirements, and identify value opportunities
- Managing complex tender processes and commercial evaluations
- Conducting supply market analysis to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and risks
- Supporting contract implementation and supplier performance through effective collaboration with Contract Managers and Procurement Programme Managers
- Developing regional contractual agreements that meet stakeholder needs and business objectives
- Driving continuous improvement and sharing procurement best practice across the wider team
- Acting as a role model for procurement excellence, mentoring Buyers and Associate Buyers to support capability development
- Supporting forward planning activities through forecasting and pipeline development

What You'll Need
We're looking for an experienced procurement professional with a strong track record of delivering complex sourcing activities and commercial outcomes.
You'll ideally have:
- Significant experience in strategic sourcing and category management
- Experience across one or more of the following areas: Facilities Management, Building Fabric, Minor Construction, Land Referencing Rights, or Land Management
- A proven ability to manage procurement activity across large-scale projects ranging from £1m to £200m
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Experience leading complex commercial assessments and applying value levers to deliver measurable outcomes
- Knowledge of framework agreement development, contract drafting, and contract improvement activities
- The ability to work autonomously while managing multiple priorities and projects
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess markets, suppliers, risks, and opportunities
- Experience building trusted relationships across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
- An understanding of project management principles and a track record of delivering results in complex environments
- MCIPS qualification (preferred)

What You'll Get
A competitive salary between £51,000 – £62,000 per annum dependent on capability.
As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. You will also have access to a number of flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines, and matched charity giving to name a few.
