Senior Category Manager - STEM
Permanent role
Hybrid role - London 2 days per week
£60,000 - £65,000 + Excellent Benefits
Allen Lane are supporting a globally recognised organisation to appoint a Senior Category Manager within their STEM procurement function.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a significant spend portfolio, working alongside senior stakeholders to drive commercial value, supplier performance, sustainability initiatives, and continuous improvement across a complex and highly visible category area.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead category and supplier management activity across a large STEM-related spend portfolio.
- Drive commercial negotiations and contractual value delivery.
- Develop and manage strategic supplier relationships.
- Champion process improvement and change initiatives.
- Use spend and supplier data to identify efficiencies and opportunities.
- Support sustainability objectives and responsible sourcing initiatives.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to procurement colleagues.
- Partner with a wide range of technical, operational, and senior stakeholders.

Key Experience:
- Strong category management, procurement, or commercial experience.
- A track record of delivering measurable outcomes, savings, and service improvements.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Experience managing suppliers, contracts, and commercial negotiations.
- Experience operating within large, complex organisations.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and change.
- Leadership or team management experience.
Experience within STEM, research, scientific, healthcare, higher education, or other complex environments would be beneficial, but is not essential.
