Job Description

Overview

AtkinsRéalis is a world-leading engineering, design, and project management organization with over 80 years of expertise delivering transformative projects across infrastructure, transportation, energy, and the built environment. Our purpose is to engineer a better future for our planet and its people through innovative, sustainable, and collaborative solutions.

As part of our growing Health & Safety team, we are looking for a Senior CDM / Health & Safety Consultant to play a key role in supporting clients, designers, and project teams in delivering safe and compliant projects across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly respected consultancy where you will work on diverse and complex projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to industry-leading health and safety practices.

The role offers a flexible hybrid working model, enabling you to work from home, client sites, and AtkinsRéalis offices across the Midlands, Southwest, and Wales. Beyond day-to-day project delivery, you'll benefit from structured career development, professional training, and clear progression opportunities within a supportive and inclusive environment.

Your role

As a Senior CDM / Health & Safety Consultant, you will provide expert advice and practical solutions to help clients and project teams meet their obligations under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015). You will act as a trusted advisor, supporting both internal and external stakeholders in managing health and safety risks throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering high-quality CDM and Health & Safety consultancy services across a varied portfolio of projects.
  • Supporting Principal Designer duties and advising clients on their responsibilities under CDM 2015.
  • Reviewing designs and construction proposals to identify, assess, and mitigate health and safety risks.
  • Providing practical guidance on design risk management and promoting best-practice health and safety outcomes.
  • Assisting clients in developing effective systems and processes to achieve compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Conducting health and safety audits, inspections, and site reviews where required.
  • Preparing professional reports, risk assessments, and CDM-related documentation.
  • Delivering Health & Safety and CDM training sessions to clients and project teams.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary design, engineering, and project management teams to integrate safety into project delivery.
  • Supporting the continuous improvement of quality assurance processes and maintaining awareness of evolving legislation and industry best practice.
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships through responsive and professional service delivery.
  • Contributing health and safety expertise across the wider business and mentoring less experienced colleagues where appropriate.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
