How's life as the support act?

In a consultancy run by PMs and QSs, CDM is never the main event. So neither are you, and it shows in your salary, your workload and how far down the agenda your opinion sits.

This one is different because building safety is the whole business. £70,000 for a Senior CDM says so.

As much working from home as you can handle, and you choose how and when you work. Family matters here, and I mean your real family. School pickups, gym time, the dentist. You don't need to hide any of it, you don't even need to ask.

  • 29 days holiday to start, rising to 32 after 5 years.
  • You'll be able to afford decent holidays too, the average bonus is £5,000.

You won't be spread across a dozen jobs either. You're resourced to do the design risk work early, and supported to do the job well, which is why the tick box version of CDM doesn't exist here.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Progression belongs to specialists in a growing specialist business. There's no bigger discipline above you deciding what CDM is worth or when you get promoted. Promotions can happen very quickly in a business this agile.

If you're social, a good communicator, a team player… you'll fit in and you'll feel noticed and looked after straight away. That's the feedback of the people working there now and even the same feedback of the people who left and wished they never did.

What you'll be doing

  • CDM Principal Designer duties across residential (including HRBs), commercial, education and retail projects.
  • Early design risk management with design teams and clients. Workshops, reviews and the conversations that actually change the design.
  • Site visits that serve the project, not a mileage target.
  • Advising clients on their duties and keeping the pre-construction information honest.

What you'll need

  • Solid experience as a CDM Principal Designer or leading CDM advisor, comfortable running your own projects and clients.
  • To care that the design risk side is done properly. That's the job here, not an add-on.
  • Client facing, organised, and the consultancy temperament to give a straight answer.
