Principal Designer/CDM Advisor

Manchester (Mostly Remote Working)

Salary: up to £60,000 + Bonus + Excellent Benefits

Carriera is proud to be partnering with a leading multidisciplinary property and construction consultancy to appoint an experienced Principal Designer to join its established team in Manchester.

This is an opportunity for a design-focused health and safety professional who enjoys working alongside architects, engineers, and project teams to influence design decisions, drive collaborative risk management, and embed health and safety throughout the design process.

Working on a diverse portfolio of high-profile projects across commercial, education, healthcare, science & technology, residential, and public sector developments, you'll take the lead in delivering Principal Designer services while ensuring risk is designed out wherever possible—not simply managed.

The Role

  • Lead the delivery of Principal Designer services across a diverse project portfolio.
  • Work collaboratively with architects, engineers, and clients to influence safer design outcomes from concept through to completion.
  • Facilitate design risk workshops and challenge design teams to eliminate and reduce foreseeable risks.
  • Advise clients on their duties under the CDM Regulations 2015 while promoting best practice in design risk management.
  • Produce and review Pre-Construction Information and Health & Safety Files.
  • Build long-term client relationships and contribute to the growth of the consultancy's design risk management offering.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
