NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC)

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health services to a population of over 1.15 million people, and to a wider population of 2.2 million when regional and national services are included.

The Role

You need to have a live NMC UK pin in order to be considered for this post.

We are seeking highly motivated and passionate Senior Charge Nurse to join our Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) at The Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.

The MAU is a fast-paced, dynamic environment that provides assessment and immediate care for patients referred in through GP services with acute medical needs. This busy and dynamic unit receives a high turnover of patients that require first assessment after being referred in from primary care, Via our Flow Navigation Centre. The role of the Senior Charge Nurse in MAU is to provide clinical leadership to manage the assessment of acutely unwell patients, oversee unit flow, and line-manage nursing staff ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. Monitoring infection control standards, managing clinical incidents and maintaining high standards of record keeping in line with NMC and GGC NHS policies and procedures.

You will also play a key role in quality improvement and transformation work across the medical receiving floor (AMU / MAU / Ambulatory care), working closely with the ED team, consultant body, ANP’s and management team.

As an assessment unit for a broad range of conditions, the MAU provides outstanding opportunities to develop both general and specialist skills as a Senior Charge Nurse. You will benefit from strong leadership with a culture that promotes ongoing professional development, supported by our dedicated Practice Educator and access to a wide variety of training opportunities to enhance your ability to develop you and your team. If you are committed to delivering high-quality care and eager to grow within a supportive and progressive team, we would love to hear from you.

All other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • Location: based in Royal Alexandra Hospital
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Working Hours: Full-time position (36 hours per week)
  • Shift pattern: fully flexible

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

AI tools like ChatGPT or Copilot can be great for planning and preparing your application, but your answers must be your own.

Show Us the Real You

Your application should reflect your skills, experience, and motivations authentically. Use AI wisely: It’s fine to use AI for ideas or to check spelling and grammar, but don’t let it write your answers. Why this matters: Applications that rely on AI-generated content may be withdrawn.
