Chartered Senior Building Surveyor
London | Property & Building Consultancy | Up to £65,000 + Benefits
A senior Building Surveying role with plenty of scope to make your mark.
I'm working with a well-established national property and building consultancy with nearly 80 years of experience. Their Building Consultancy team is around 100 strong, with a specialist Building Surveying team across 8 offices in the UK.
They're now looking to appoint a Chartered Senior Building Surveyor to join their London team, with a strong professional Building Surveying background.
About the Role
This is a role for someone who genuinely enjoys the technical and professional side of Building Surveying and wants the opportunity to take ownership of client relationships, projects and their own career progression.
What You'll Be Doing
- Technical Due Diligence (TDD)
- Building surveys and defect diagnosis
- Dilapidations
- Planned and preventative maintenance
- Portfolio and estate work
- Neighbourly matters
- Expert witness work
- Project and refurbishment advice
- Supporting and developing client relationships
Projects range from smaller assignments through to multi-million-pound commercial and industrial schemes, with the wider team working across commercial, retail, automotive, industrial, public sector and some residential sectors.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience fit
Your summer at the bank plus your econometrics coursework map directly to the day-one responsibilities on this scheme — client modelling, market briefings, and deal support.
Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
There's also plenty of variety in the client base, ranging from major retailers and property companies to public-sector organisations and specialist automotive businesses.
What They're Looking For
- RICS Chartered Building Surveyor with around 4-6 years' PQE and solid professional Building Surveying experience.
- A good breadth of experience across services such as TDD, dilapidations, defect diagnosis, and portfolio work.
- Someone who can demonstrate genuine professional Building Surveying experience, alongside the confidence and personality to build strong client relationships.
- Scope to take on greater responsibility within the professional team and potentially help shape and grow the service as the business continues to expand.
Why Consider It?
- This is a national consultancy, but they've deliberately retained a smaller, more personal feel. Teams are partner-led, offices work closely together, and there's a strong emphasis on doing things as a team rather than creating a heavily corporate environment.
- They offer a hybrid working model, alongside a strong benefits package including:
- Car allowance
- Pension scheme
- Annual bonus with everyone receiving a share of company profits
- Gym membership discounts
- Birthday day off
- Wellbeing days… plus many more!

The Opportunity
They're continuing to grow and are particularly interested in bringing in experienced senior Building Surveyors who can add technical expertise, develop client relationships, and help drive the next stage of growth.
If you're an MRICS Building Surveyor with a strong professional background and are looking for a senior role where you can have genuine influence without moving into a huge corporate environment, this could be worth exploring.
