Home Based – Manchester / Leeds
Role Overview
You will join a highly capable building surveying team, working under the guidance of the Building Surveying Directors to deliver the core services our clients rely on. Operating primarily in the residential market, you will apply robust technical judgement to diagnose building defects, scope solutions, and see projects through from feasibility to completion.
You will balance site-based inspections with precise reporting and clear client communication, providing practical, safe and sustainable recommendations. Your work will help set the standard for technically sound delivery, while you mentor colleagues and contribute to continuous improvement across our service lines.
ROLE EXPECTATIONS
Most days you will be planning and undertaking site inspections, preparing high-quality technical reports and specifications, and running projects through contract administration. You will liaise closely with clients, contractors and colleagues to keep programmes on track, manage risk and ensure works meet scope, budget and quality standards.

How You'll Spend Most Of Your Time
- Carrying out building pathology inspections, defect diagnostics and due diligence surveys.
- Developing scopes, specifications and schedules of work for maintenance, remediation and refurbishment.
- Leading contract administration, tender processes and contractor oversight through to completion.
- Producing clear, technically robust reports, cost estimates and client communications.
- Managing programmes, budgets, risks and stakeholder expectations across multiple live instructions.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, standards and CDM duties within your role.

- You are a seasoned surveyor who enjoys combining hands-on inspections with project delivery.
- You think commercially, communicate clearly and present complex technical matters simply.
- You are organised, proactive and comfortable juggling multiple priorities across dispersed sites.
- You take ownership, work collaboratively and hold yourself to high technical and safety standards.
- You are motivated by improving homes and communities through practical, sustainable solutions.
Experience That Helps
- Strong track record delivering residential surveys, defect diagnosis and refurbishment projects.
- Experience preparing specifications, running tenders and administering JCT contracts.
- Familiarity with fire and building safety remediation, compliance and risk management.
- Confidence working with managing agents, freeholders, resident groups and contractors.
- Competence with digital surveying tools, reporting platforms and data-led decision making.
