Senior Chemist
Join an innovative early-stage climate technology company developing a novel materials technology designed to address a major industrial challenge and support the transition towards more sustainable production.
This is an opportunity for a hands-on Chemist to join a small technical team and take ownership of a core chemistry programme as the company continues to develop and commercialise its technology. You'll be responsible for designing and running experiments, analysing results, developing new approaches and working with external technical partners where required. High impact role, with excellent future progression as the team grows.
The role would suit someone who enjoys practical chemistry, likes solving problems and wants significant ownership over a technical programme within a fast-moving startup environment.
Key Responsibilities – Senior Chemist
- Design, plan and run laboratory experiments to support the development and optimisation of the company's technology
- Take ownership of experimental programmes, deciding what to test, which variables to investigate and what to do based on the results
- Analyse and interpret experimental data, using findings to determine the next stage of technical development
- Develop hypotheses and identify new opportunities to improve the underlying technology and experimental programme
- Manage multiple experiments and technical workstreams, ensuring laboratory time and resources are used effectively
- Maintain accurate records of experiments, samples, results and technical data
- Identify and manage external testing partners, laboratories, universities and other technical collaborators
- Support technical applications, reports and wider project documentation where required
- Work closely with the founding and technical team to connect laboratory activity with wider product and commercial objectives
- Take ownership of the chemistry programme and contribute across the wider business as priorities evolve

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
