SLB are looking for a Senior Chemist located in Aberdeen, UK. This is your opportunity to join a global technology company, driving energy innovation for a balanced planet.

In this role you will have the chance to take the lead on laboratory testing/analysis and apply the findings in oil and gas production systems. There will be the opportunity to develop novel products for deployment in the field in addition to new testing methodologies for both in field monitoring and laboratory analysis. Multiple disciplines could be interconnected when looking for solutions to problems so career development to adjacent product lines is possible. Participation in conferences and industry events to present novel research is also encouraged.

What You Will Do:

  • Project management
  • Adhere to all safety protocols for ChampionX
  • Conducting laboratory tests to complete project requests
  • Screening and/or assisting with developing products
  • Technical report writing
  • Database management
  • Learning product applications
  • Providing field support either remotely or onsite
  • Maintaining cleanliness and housekeeping of the laboratory
  • Maintaining calibration records for equipment
  • Implement and follow company safety practices, use COSHH and Risk assessments for all chemicals and tasks performed in the lab, and maintain test protocols

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BSc Hons, MSc in a Chemistry or related subject and experience in multiple facets of the oilfield chemical related product range
  • Previous experience of working with oilfield chemical related projects.
  • Previous experience of working in a laboratory and managing research projects
  • 2 years related experience, depending upon educational level, preferably in oilfield production chemistry environment.
  • Good computer skills, must have experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, DOE optional
  • Good oral and written communication skills, speak and write English

Physical Demands:

  • A mixture of office based and standard laboratory-based work
  • Field work / visits may be required
